That video games and cinema are becoming more united is nothing new, and not only because of the adaptations of video games to the big screen, (how fashionable they are) or because of the movies that make the leap to consoles taking advantage of the pull of a title.
Also, due to the large number of famous actors who have lent their image to be part of the stories we play. The latest to join the list have been Norman Reedus, in Silent Hills, and Sigourney Weaver, in Alien Isolation.
We bring you our particular Save me from video games. But don’t worry, Jorge Javier doesn’t appear in it, it was out of budget, so you will have to settle with us to find out who is behind some of our favorite video game characters.
Alien Isolation
Sigourney Weaver
Lieutenant Ripley returns to action in the world of video games, and she does so with Alien Isolation. In the new xenomorph game we will travel to the Sevastopol station with Amanda Ripley, Ellen’s daughter. But, in the extras for reserving the game, we will have some very special content, we will be able to play with the crew of the Nostromo and in one of the missions we will drive Ellen Ripley herself.
Sigourney Weaver has participated in the project to lend her face, voice and movements to the character she played in the four films of the xenomorph saga. The actress has been delighted and has indicated that, although she has often received scripts to play video games, this time she has convinced him.
Assassin’s Creed
Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell, for a long time, was known as Veronica Mars, student by day and detective by night, a role that catapulted her to success. The series was canceled after three seasons, although now, thanks to her horde of fans, it has reached the movies. Recently, the actress has been the voice of Princess Anna in the original version of Frozen, and we can see her in the House of Lies series. But, long before she was a liberal princess and starring in comedies, Kristen Bell helped Desmond Miles find the Assassin’s side of her, playing Lucy Stillman in the Assassin’s Creed saga.
Beyond Dos Almas
David Cage and his studio like to surround themselves with actors when creating their video games. In Heavy Rain, those in charge of playing Ethan Mars, Madison Page and Scott Shelby were quite well-known actors. This is the case of Sam Douglas, an actor who plays detective Shelby, with a long career in television series and movies. But, to tell the story of Jodie Holmes, Quantic Dream went a step further and hired great Hollywood stars: Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe.
Willem Dafoe
“40,000 years of evolution and we’ve only just peeked into the vastness of human potential,” says Norman Osborn/Green Goblin in Spider-Man. One of Willem Dafoe’s most remembered roles in recent times, despite being an actor with a career spanning over 30 years and two Oscar nominations, for his roles as Sergeant Elias K. Grodin, in Platoon and Max Schreck, in La vampire shadow.
In Beyond Two Souls, Willem Dafoe plays the investigator Nathan Dawkins, who will try to help Jodie Holmes control Aiden, the entity that won’t let her live in peace. This is not the first role that Dafoe has had in the world of video games. In 2002 he provided his voice for the video game adaptation of the movie Spider-man, and in 2003 he was Nikolai Diavolo, enemy of James Bond, in the video game, James Bond 007: All or Nothing.
Ellen Page
The Canadian actress, whom we have been able to see lately in X-Men: Days of Future Past, as Kitty Pryde, has always been considered a bit of a geek, although video games were not her forte. At least, that’s what David Cage said in one of the promotional interviews for Beyond Two Souls. According to him, Ellen Page thought that video games were something violent and without a plot but when she proposed to be Jodie Holmes and she read the script, she changed her mind. Ellen didn’t think twice and she agreed to star in the role of this girl who was born with a gift, and whom we follow from the age of 8 to the age of 23.
Blair Redford
From film actors we went to television actors with Blair Redford, in charge of giving life to Jay, a Navajo that Jodie will meet at one of the moments in her life. SPOILER WARNING and gossip, Jodie may decide to start a relationship with him. FIN Blair Redford has worked on the movie Burlesque, and on several television series, such as Sensation of living: the next generation, CSI and Beauty and the Beast.
Eric Winter
We finish our review of the actors of Beyond Dos Almas with another television actor, Eric Winter, currently in the Witches of East End series, and who we have also seen in The Mentalist. In the Quantic Dream game, Eric Winter is Ryan Clayton, a tough CIA agent who isn’t exactly fond of Aiden, nor some fans of the game.
Stem
Value Curry
Valorie Curry is another of the actresses who come to us from the worlds created by Quantic Dream. The actress gives life to the android Kara in the technical demo that the studio made to demonstrate the power of PS3. In addition, she has played roles in Veronica Mars and in the movie The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 2. She is currently Emma Hill in the series The Following, starring Kevin Becon.
If the rumors about the two new games that Quantic Dream is working on are confirmed, one of them would be Singularity for PS4, and it could have a lot to do with the short Kara, so Valorie Curry could be the protagonist. So, here we leave you the short with subtitles in case you haven’t seen it.
The black
As in Beyond Two Souls, in LA Noire most of the main characters are played by actors, although, unlike what happens in the Quantic Dream game, here they have more to do with television than with cinema. Thus we can recognize actors who have appeared in Bones, Castle, Alias, and other North American series.
Patrick Fincher
Patrick Fincher is Jimmy Barnett in the acclaimed drama, Mad Men. But, before appearing in the series starring Jon Hamm, he was one of the members of the organization Dharma de Perdidos and a policeman in Southland. In addition, his credits include the films Mulholland Drive and The Black Dahlia. In LA Noire he plays the role of gangster Mickey Cohen. This mobster is a real character from the 40s, who committed countless crimes in Los Angeles, from which he got away with it, thanks to his contacts with the police and political high command.
Carla Gallo
Bones fans will surely be familiar with the face of Carla Gallo because it is Daisy Wick, the talkative assistant and fellow of Dr. Temperance Brennan “Bones”. She is not the only role for which she is known, we have been able to see her in the series starring David Duchovny, Californication.
Carla Gallo, in RockStar’s detective adventure, is Gloria Bishop, the wife of one of the suspects whom we will have to interrogate to obtain information. But be careful, although it seems easy to make him confess, one false step and our case will go unpunished.
Greg Grunberg
Although he has worked on many television series, we especially remember Greg Grunberg for Alias, where he was Eric Weiss, a CIA agent, friend and confidant of Sydney Bristow, and for his role as Sean Blumberg in Felicity, the Roommate of Ben, for whom candid Felicity drank the winds. Having JJ Abrams as a childhood friend may have helped him with both of these roles, as both series were produced by the director of Star Wars: Episode VII. After Alias, he appeared in some episodes of Lost, in the series Heroes, and in the Super 8 movie. In LA Noire he is Hugo Moller, the husband of a woman murdered in the case of The Golden Butterfly.
Michael McGrady
Michael McGrady is a television veteran, seen on Las Vegas, Shoutland, and most recently on Ray Donovan. In the detective video game he plays Rusty Galloway, one of Cole Phelps’s partners in the Homicide department. Galloway appears after the early retirement of our first partner, Floyd Rose. Rusty’s theory is that the victim’s husband is always the culprit and should be put in jail.
John Noble
John Noble is known worldwide for playing the character of Denethor II, in The Lord of the Rings, and for being the slightly crazy scientist, Walter Bishop, in the Fringe series. Also, during the sixth season of 24, he played the Russian consul Anatoly Markov.
In LA Noire, the Australian actor gets into the shoes of Leland Monroe, a construction magnate who has become rich thanks to his company Elysian Fields and its many subsidiaries. Cole Phelps will have to face him, although the arrogance of the character will not make it easy for him. Without a doubt, he is one of the most hated characters in the game.
Aaron Staton
And finally, we come to the true protagonist of Rockstar’s detective game, Cole Phelps, a detective with the Los Angeles Police Department, during the 1920s, played by Aaron Staton. The actor is known for his role on the series Mad Men, where he plays Ken Cosgrove, an account executive at Sterling Cooper. This role has earned him several Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Cole Phelps, is a former member of the Marine Corps who, returning from the war as a hero, joins the Los Angeles Police Department. Throughout the game we learn the true story of him, as he rises within the police. His license plate number is 1247.
NBA 2K
Justin Bieber
At the foot of the track, this is how we find the Canadian singer, Justin Bieber, in the basketball game NBA 2K13. The interpreter of Baby, is a lover of the sport of the basket and thanks to the All-Star game mode, he was able to become a real basketball star and play exciting games on the parquet. Bieber appreciated his appearance in the game and I’m sure 2K Games did too. The presence of the singer was a great marketing strategy.
Saga Call of Duty
Robert Englund
More than one of us have a trauma with the actor Robert Englund since, in our early childhood, he played the evil Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street. Luckily, Krueger is not the only character he has given life to, and we have been able to see him as a ghost in The Phantom of the Opera (1989), in What a Pair of Idiots, or in the Justice League series.
Robert Englund appears in the zombie mode of the Call of Dead map in the game Call of Duty Black Ops. During the filming of a zombie movie, everything goes wrong for the actors: Robert Englund, Sarah Michelle Geller, Michael Rooker and Danny Trejo, who become the only four survivors of a zombie attack. Throughout the game there are constant references to the movie A Nightmare on Elm Street and his character Freddy.
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Better known as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a role that launched her to fame on 90s television, along with her work on two of the horror sagas of the time: I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2. Sarah Michelle Geller is the first female to appear in Call of Duty’s zombie mode, followed by Misty.
Michael Rooker
Actor Michael Rooker has done a double, in the Call of Duty saga, appearing in Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and in the Call of Dead zombie mode. In zombie mode he plays himself and is one of the survivors from the filming of the movie when the undead arrive. While, in Call of Duty Black Ops 2 he plays Mike Harper, a member of the SEALs, and partner of Alex Manson.
We have seen Michael Rooker in Guardians of the Galaxy, in the role of Yondu, and in The Walking Dead series, playing Merle Dixon, brother of Daryl Dixon, one of the members of the Atlanta group.
Danny Trejo
Danny Trejo is hardened in battle, and for that reason we are not surprised to see him in Call of the Dead joining Sarah Michelle Geller, Robert Englund and Michael Rooker, as one of the four survivors. In addition, he has provided the voice of him for other video games. In Fallout: New Vegas he was Raul Alfonso Tejada, and in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Umberto Robina.
Trejo has starred in more than 100 titles since his career began in the 1980s. We have almost always seen him as the bad guy, making the Latino problematic because of his Mexican ancestry, even though he was born in the United States. As a curiosity, he is the cousin of director Robert Rodriguez, with whom he worked on Desperado and, more recently, on Machete. Among the movies in which we have been able to see him, we find: the Spy Kids trilogy, xXx and From Dusk Till Dawn.
Kevin Spacey
The great actor, Kevin Spacey, is in charge of playing Jonathan Iron in the next Call of Duty, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Irons is the main enemy of the plot and during the game’s presentation trailer we could see him giving a long speech. Although actors have appeared in the Call of Duty saga before, it is the first time that a major Hollywood actor, including an Oscar for his roles as a father in American Beauty and as con man Verbal Kint in The Usual Suspects, lends himself to voice and face of a character
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
Actors Jon Bernthal, John Malkovich, Rose McGowan and Bill Paxton are already part of the Call of Duty universe thanks to their participation in the EXO Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare included in the DLC, HAVOC. The four of them are well known both in the cinema, on television and in the theater and, this time, they have gotten into the shoes of several scientists and security agents who have survived a biological attack.
Jon Bernthal
In the Activision video game, the famous actor Jon Bernthal, known for appearing in the mini-series The Pacific, in the series The Walking Dead, and in the movies World Trade Center and The Wolf of Wall Street, plays Decker, an agent security that is sent to protect the group of scientists from the Atlas corporation.
John Malkovich
The prestigious actor, producer and director John Malkovich is Oz, an Atlas maintenance worker, who will join a group of scientists and security guards to try to survive the zombie attack. Despite working for the corporation led by Jonathan Irons (Kevin Spacey), he is not very happy to be part of it. “When Atlas dropped the bomb, they expected the war to end. Instead, a freak show was unleashed the likes of which no one has ever seen.”
Rose McGowan
Muse of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino in the films Planet Terror and Death Proof Rose McGowan became famous thanks to her role as Paige Matthews in the Charmed series. In the EXO Zombie mode of Call of Duty Advance Warfare she is Lilith, a technical specialist in information technology.
Bill Paxton
Bill Paxton, actor of Apollo 13, Aliens, the return, Twister, Titanic, U-571, Vertical limit, The edge of tomorrow and a long list of movies and series, did not want to lose the feeling of facing the movements of Capture and give voice to a video game character. On this occasion, the veteran actor gets into the skin of Mr. Kahn, a high executive of Atlas who will do everything possible to survive.
GTA saga
Phil Collins
Do you want to go to a Phil Collins concert? In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories we can go to one if we shell out $6,000. We offer it to you for free in the following video with the song In The Air Tonight, from his album Face Value. Around Phil Collins moves one of the plots of the main story, starring Victor Vance, and also appears in multiplayer.
Peter Fonda
Peter Fonda is the son of the mythical Henry Fonda, and father of Bridget Fonda. Peter became famous after his appearance in the Wyatt and Billy biker movie, Easy Rider. His career is long and extensive with several Oscar nominations and other awards. And, an anecdote, if you like The Beatles, the song ella She said ella She said, from the album Revolver by the British band, is inspired by the comments that Fonda made to them under the influence of drugs.
In Grand Thef Auto: San Andreas he is The Truth, a hippie from Flint County who once owned a marijuana farm. The Truth is constantly thinking of conspiracy theories from the government and the organizations around him. He befriends CJ when the protagonist of San Andreas is exiled in the Badlands.
Ricky Gervais
Ricky Gervais is the most irreverent British comedian who has gone through the Golden Globes ceremony. He presented it from 2010 to 2012, unfortunately for Hollywood actors, who got on their nerves. More than one of them wanted to hit him with a slap. Gervais dropped into Grand Thef Auto IV to play himself at the Comedy Club, Split Side, where we can hear three monologues from him. In the same Club we can also find Katt Williams.
Luis Guzmán
Luis Guzman is a fixture in supporting roles. He has been a policeman, a gangster… and is one of the favorite actors of directors Steven Soderbergh and Paul Thomas Anderson. With the former he has worked on A Very Dangerous Romance, The English Hawk and Traffic, while he has acted under the latter’s orders in Boogie Nights, Magnolia and Drunk on Love. In addition, the Puerto Rican actor is a fixture on television with roles in Frasier, Oz, Community or, Como buscarse la vida en América. In Grand Thef Auto: Vice City and Grand Thef Auto: Vice City Stories he is the voice of Ricardo Diaz. The physical resemblance between the actor and the Vice City drug lord is quite evident.
Karl Lagerfeld
The kaiser of fashion, Karl Lagerfeld, also has an appearance in the Grand Thef Auto saga and, more specifically, in GTA IV. The German is the DJ at K109 The Studios radio, where we listen to disco music. In real life, he is one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century. Currently, he works for Chanel (a brand for which he is also a photographer), Fendi and his own brand, Karl Lagerfeld.
Samuel L. Jackson
The San Andreas policeman, Frank Tenpenny, has a very special voice, that of Samuel L. Jackson and, although he does not officially show his face, we can see certain similarities between the rude and tiresome policeman and the actor who plays the Jedi master, Windu, in Star Wars and Nick Fury in The Avengers. Although the actor’s career started late, his cache rose from him like foam to become one of the most recognized actors on the Hollywood scene.
Philip Michael Thomas
Detective Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs, from the series Miami Vice, played by Philip Michael Thomas, turned to crime in Vice City, since the actor put the voice of the cocaine dealer, Lance Vance, older brother of Victor Vance, in GTA: Vice City and GTA: Vice City Stories.
Chris Penn
Chris Penn, ill-fated brother of Sean Penn and Michael Penn, remembered for his roles in Reservoir Dogs and Point Blank Love, was another of the actors who walked the streets of San Andreas to try to capture CJ Chris voiced the police officer Los Santos police officer Eddie Pulaski. Eddie is one of Frank Tenpenny’s trusted men, and together with him, Jimmy Hernandez and Ralph Pendelbury, they form the most corrupt police unit in the city, known as CRASH.
Axl Rose
The lead singer of the Hard Rock band Guns N’Roses, Axl Rose, puts his vocal cords under the command of the DJ, Tommy “The Nightmate” Smith, who works at the K-DST station in GTA: San Andreas. In addition, on the Radio X station you can listen to the Guns N’Roses song, Welcome to the Jungle, and on the streets of Los Santos we can find a biker who has many similarities with the singer.
Bass Rutten
The former Dutch fighter, an expert in mixed martial arts, karate, taekwondo and kickboxing, has a small role in Grand Thef Auto IV. Bas appears as himself playing one of the hosts of The Men’s Room, along with Jeremy St. Ives. He is the more aggressive of the two and it is implied that he has committed several crimes that could have landed him in prison.
Famous pedestrians and characters based on celebrities
Throughout the entire GTA saga, a large number of famous characters, or based on celebrities, have appeared. For example, in GTA San Andreas, we can meet the leader of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, as well as Catherine Tramell, a character played by Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, walking through the streets of Los Santos.
Other characters with more prominence are inspired by celebrities, as is the case of Candy Suxxx, a mix of porn actresses: Lisa Spark and Jenna Jameson; Salvatore Leone, a GTA-style Vito Corleone, or businessman Donald Love, a clear reference to tycoon Donald Trump. And so, a large number of celebrities.
Saga Saint’s Row
Nikki Benz
Adult film actress Nikki Benz appears in Saints Row: The Third as one of the Penthouse Pack, which is completed by Justin Joli, Ryan Keely and Heather Vandeven. At any time they could be called upon to join the gang and fight the Syndicate.
Michael Clark Duncan y Terry Crews
The founder and leader of the Vice Kings, Benjamin King, has been voiced by two renowned actors: Michael Clarke Duncan and Terry Crews. By the way, the character looks quite similar to this second one.
Michael Clarke Duncan won an Oscar for his magnificent performance in The Green Mile and with it he saw his extensive career recognized, with films like False Appearances or Sin City, among many others. He provided the voice of him to Benjamin until Saints Row IV, when he took over as Terry Crews, Chris’s father in the series Everybody Hate Chris, and whom we have also seen in full action in The Expendables and Gamer.
Daniel Dae Kim
If you were one of those who on some occasion visited the island of Lost or, lately, you walk through Hawaii 5.0, the face of Johnny Gat will sound familiar to you. The actor who voices him, and on whom they have been slightly based, is Daniel Dea Kim, Jin Kwon and Chin Ho Kelly in the Fox series.
Keith David
Keith Davis has an extensive career in film, television, and voice acting. If you are fans of Mass Effect, his voice will sound familiar to you because he is Captain Anderson. In cinema he has worked in movies like The Thing, Platoon, Quick and Deadly, There’s Something About Mary, Armageddon and Requiem for a Dream.
In the Saints Row saga, Davis plays a double role. On one hand, he is Vice President Keith David, a parody of himself, and on the other, he is Julius Littel, leader and founder of the 3rd Street Saint, who appears in Saints Row, Saints Row 2 and Saints Row IV.
Eliza Dushku
Eliza Dushku is Shaundi, one of Johnny’s gang members, who first appeared in Saints Row 2. She is mainly in charge of planning the robberies. Her physique in the saga has changed as much as her voice and Eliza Dushku was her voice actor in the first installment in which we met her.
The American actress began to take her first steps in the world of acting as the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jaime Lee Curtis in Mentiras Riskadas, to later be the rebellious teenager in Go for it and the vampire slayer Faith in the series Angel and Buffy, the vampire slayer . But recently she has been seen in Tru Calling and Dollhouse.
Sasha Grey
The ex-porn actress, Sasha Grey, has also participated in the world of video games. In Saints Row: The Third she plays Viola Dewyner, one of the lieutenants of the Morningstar-led gang. Outside of adult cinema, she has appeared in the Spanish film Open Windows, directed by Nacho Vigalondo.
Tera Patrick
And another adult film actress who has walked through Saints Row is Tera Patrick. The pornstar appears in Saints Row 2: Ultor Exposed as Tara, a microbiologist who works for the Ultor Corporation and will try to approach the Saints gang to find out what shady business Ultor is up to. Tera Patrick is only available with the Ultor Exposed pack.
Neil Patrick Harris
This is going to be legendary! Neil Patrick Harris must have thought when he accepted the role of DJ Veteran Child in Saints Row 2 and Saints Row IV, a drug dealer belonging to the Sons of Samedi gang, led by The General. Another of his jobs is that of a disc jockey in a nightclub and on the radio program, Generacion X, on frequency 89.0. He usually spends a lot of time at the University of Stilwater, and not exactly to study.
We know the actor better as Barney Stinson, the flirt of the group of friends from How I Met Your Mother, although we have also seen him in The Smurfs, The Muppets and A Thousand Ways to Bit the Dust. In addition, he has once hosted the Tony Awards and the Emmy Awards.
Burt Reynolds
Burt Reynolds, legendary actor from Deliverance, The Bonebreaker, in its 1974 version, and winner of a Golden Globe for best supporting actor for his role as Jack Horner in Boogie Nights, has not been able to resist the world of video games either. In Saints Row: The Third, he played himself, but in the profession of mayor of the city of Steelport.
Demo P.T- Silent Hills
Norman Reedus
In the last Gamescom 2014 the mystery was revealed, PT was not a new franchise. It was the demo of a new Silent Hills, directed by Hideo Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro. In addition, we could see the actor Norman Reedus, Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead series, as the main character, although we do not know his name or the reasons why he travels to Silent Hill. By the way, it is the second video game in which the actor appears because he already appeared in the shooter, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct
The Last of Us
Ashley Johnson
For everyone who doesn’t already know, Ellen Page is not Ellie in The Last of Us. The person in charge of capturing the character’s movements, and lending her voice, is Ashley Johnson, an actress who for two seasons was the Seaver’s little girl in the series Growing Problems, to later become the daughter of Mel Gibson in the movie What Do They Think? women. She has also appeared in the series The Killing.
Troy Baker
It may not sound like much to you from his face, we are more used to seeing him as someone else, well, Troy Baker has worked more as a video game actor than as a series or film actor. Even so, we have been able to see him in a chapter of Shelf Life, and in the movie In the firing line. In video games, he will next play Mitchell in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Two-Face in Batman: Arkham Knight.
Our particular Save me has come to an end, for now. On the web you can continue reviewing the pages of cuche paper with our report The 10 worst games with celebrities. Very soon we will be back with more video game celebrities. See you tomorrow hearts.
