How many times did you draw yourself when you were a child? And to your family? To your friends? We all have. When we are little we are passionate about creating stories and imagining worlds. We start by drawing ourselves, our surroundings and the places we dream of. So, apparently, we weren’t that far from what is now the future. We talk about volumetric production and avatars as the keys to the metaverse. Yes, the keys to the future.
Did you know that the term “metaverse” was first named in 1992? So did the science fiction writer, Neal Stepherson. However, now the metaverse represents the future of interconnected virtual experiences through virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. And while it is true that there are many debates that this futuristic (or not so futuristic) term that is on everyone’s lips has opened, the reality is that we cannot deny the relevance of this new world.
A new world that Telefónica does not want to miss. For this reason, on September 29, Telefónica Metaverse Day will be held: the first innovation event on the metaverse and other related emerging technologies, such as tokens, NFTs, virtual, augmented, and mixed reality devices.
The keys to create your avatars in metaverse
Perhaps the term “avatar” is more familiar to you, but… what is volumetric production? Volumetric production is the step prior to the creation of an avatar. It consists of using a set of cameras around a person or animal that will record all its angles. The collected data is then processed to create a 3D asset that will later be an exact digital replica. This accuracy has made volumetric production one of the most real, human and authentic technologies in the virtual digital environment.
For this reason, one of the keys to the metaverse is volumetric production and, subsequently, the creation of an avatar that is as real and human as possible. Although there is the possibility of living the experience without volumetric capture, with virtual reality, for the metaverse to reach its true potential, real human beings must be introduced into it. For this, there is currently only one way out: volumetric production.
Telefonica Metaverse Day
Today, most of us navigate a sea of news, terminology, and technology that is inevitably unfamiliar to us. And it is that, despite the fact that we live in the most digitized moment in history, the door is opening to a new era of which we still do not have much information. This era is the metaverse, a new universe of innovation, immersion, and experience that opens up a multitude of opportunities in all walks of life.
And faced with this lack of information, but the need for knowledge, Telefónica takes the step and celebrates the first edition of the innovation event on the metaverse and related emerging technologies: Telefónica Metaverse Day. Experts in innovation on Web3 will talk to us about the practical applications of the metaverse in this new digital age. In addition, technologies such as tokens, NFTs, virtual, augmented and mixed reality devices, and much more will be discussed! Do not miss the event of the year and sign up here!
